Kinderkunst-Präsentationssystem

Art in architecture
Funded by the Senate of Bremen
The “Kinderkunst-Präsentationssystem” (children's art presentation system) is a mechanical installation consisting of eight large pulleys with colorful ropes running over them. The purpose of the construction is to hang up paintings and handicrafts made by the children at the Baumschulenweg elementary school in Bremen.
The children's works are attached from a stepladder. By manually turning the pulleys, the artworks can be positioned in otherwise inaccessible places, suspended above the main staircase of the school building. The simple handling allows the suspended works to be replaced regularly.
The installation has a sculptural character, but it is also practical infrastructure which supports the children's creative work.
